RETURNING TO MY ROOTS

Recorded in 2001 and 2002 “Deep South” was intended originally as my official “roots” album.  The concept strayed a little, and not all of the songs fit the theme completely, but the general spirit of the album was primarily vintage guitars played through vintage amps and “way cool” tube effects boxes.  I had been collecting guitars for years and wanted to showcase as many of my favorites as I could. I grew up in Louisiana and spent a lot of my childhood “glued” to the radio and our family “record player.” And I also fell in love with guitars at an early age.  Five of the songs here are “re-writes” from songs written much earlier in Louisiana and five were written specifically for this CD.  I am playing all of the instruments except the terrific  piano parts on Jackson Avenue and Nasty Talkin Fool played by the incredible John Gentry Tennyson....  Enjoy!  GH
